yeah. shadows fall are one the best bands in the scene right now, still eating emo kids for breakfast.

Behemoth and Children of Bodom are pretty sweet as well.

Trivium (old Trivium, before their lead singer decided he could do a good James Hetfield impersonation), Dimmu Borgir, and As I Lay Dying is some stuff you need to pick up too.

had some of each, Dimmu and COF are much alike, Puritania is the best DB song IMO. As I Lay Dying and Trivium are both OK. Ill listen if they are on.

I like a wide variety of music. Im to old to listen to most of it.

Yeah, I was gonna mention COF, but several on here go off when they're mentioned--they think they're garbage. I think they're solid black metal for sure. Even if you don't like Dani Filth's vocals, some of the sounds they create as a band are dark and highly gothic, heavy as hell too. Of course, then again, COF has some of that British metal influence too, and it's a unique mix when it comes out in flashes of some of their songs.

As for being too old to listen--Greg Behrendt has taught us all, if you've watched his stand-up instead of his talk show, that you're never too old to rock, it's just to what extent you rock... [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

I can listen to some COF, but I know they are fake, they may say black metal, but they are about as black metal as JA Rule is a gangsta. Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Venom etc. are more true Black Metal bands, the Swedish bands tend to create more of the true Black Metal, some Finnish bands as well, but they are more Grindcore and Death. Dani Filth is a little tool, but they're songs are put together well for the most part.

Im not much for the American attempts at Black Metal either, that guy from PanterA put some sure aweful stuff out there he should have just stuck to Pantera, everything else was a waste, Deicide and bands like that are rubbish to me.

I really enjoy Cradle of Filth. My favorite albums are Midian and Bitter Sweets to Succubi. Their latest album, Thornography, wasn't too great though.
